What to expect

Leave the Dead Sea hotel early in the morning to Petra, one of the Seven Wonders of the World for a. Hewn into a sandstone valley carved by the Nabataeans more than 2,000 years ago, this ancient rose-red rock city located 245 kilometers from Amman at the crossroads of age-old trading routes, to dominate ancient Arabia. Reach Petra main site to learn more about its magnificent history. On arrival, leave your vehicle, and enjoy this UNESCO Heritage listed wonder with a local guide. Walk through the famous “Siq”, a narrow path of 1.2 kilometers; rock fissure that was once the main entrance to the city, and marvel at your first glimpse of the hauntingly beautiful Treasury “Al - Khazneh” as the canyon suddenly opens up. Admire this rose-pink masterpiece, originally built to house priceless treasures and capture it on camera. Proceed through the widening canyon to witness other monuments such as the 3,000-seater Theater, the Royal Tombs, and the Byzantine Church. Listen as your guide describes how the Nabateans sculpted the buildings, and learn how they mastered the harsh desert conditions to make their lives here. After around two hours of exploring, enjoy free time. Climb up the Monastery on your own: a clifftop altar that was once used for animal sacrifices and other ceremonies. Pass by Little Petra, a small rocky valley with carvings, that archaeologists believe acted as the Nabatean's caravan before heading to the main city. Return to Dead Sea Hotel
