In 1873, the addition of Michelangelo's David significantly elevated the prestige of the museum.
Today, the Accademia Gallery contains more sculptures by Michelangelo than anywhere else in the world, featuring iconic pieces such as David, the Prisoners and San Matteo. Additionally, it houses the Museum of Musical Instruments, where you can admire the most ancient piano in the world.
