Tårnende dobbeltbuer, granitsøjler og intrikate geometriske dekorationer, Katedral-Moskeen i Cordoba (også kendt som Mezquita) er en fredfyldt og alligevel overvældende skønhed. Ikke kun er det et storslået eksempel på maurisk og islamisk arkitektur, det er også en fascinerende afspejling af byens fortid og de mange civilisationer, der engang beboede den.
Bygget i år 784 af Abd al-Rahman I., på stedet af en tidligere visigotisk kirke, blev den udvidet flere gange af senere muslimske herskere, indtil Reconquista i 1236, da Cordoba igen kom under kristent herredømme. Den blev derefter omdannet til en romersk-katolsk kirke, som førte til tilføjelsen af et katedralskib i renæssancestil og dens usædvanlige status som katedral-moske.
