Beschreibung

You'll follow in the footsteps of the first ever Olympians on this exclusive excursion to Olympia and its ancient shrines and temples. The trip also includes a visit to the Archaeological Museum of Olympia and some free time in the modern-day village.

We'll hit the ground running at Olympia, located in the forested foot of Mt Kronos. With the help of an iPad to illustrate what you're viewing, your guide will show you around the original stadium – including the finishing line and waterside gym – as well as all the religious shrines that are packed into this ancient sanctuary. You'll wander past temples, altars and statues dedicated to the gods, but the must-see are the ruins of the Temple of Zeus, one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.

Rounding off the visit is a stop at the Archaeological Museum of Olympia, where an impressive collection of artefacts includes a winged Nike, finely carved statuettes and bronze armour. After the tour, you'll have free time to explore the village.

Schöne Besichtigung. Es wurde auch viel erklärt. Aber wenn man sich wirklich intensiv beschäftigen will und das meiste anschauen, sollte man auf eigene Faust dort hingehen. Zu sehen wie alles mal aussah war schön. Aber uns ging es etwas schnell und es wurde nicht das ganze Gelände angegangen. Im Museum wurde man dann geradezu durchgeschoben. Schnell/schnell. Dabei gäbe es so viel zu sehen. Das war nicht schön.

Unser Guide war sehr gut. Wir erhielten nicht nur Info über unser Ausflugsziel, sondern auch generell Info über Peleponnes. Immer wieder wurde nachgefragt,ob es weitere Fragen gibt und diese wurden auch beantwortet. Nur der angegebene Snack mit Wasser und lokaler Süßigkeit war ein Reinfall. Welche lokale Süßigkeit? Kostprobe in einem total überteuerten Souvenir-Shop! Hande weg, da kosteten zB folierte Oliven 10 Euro je Pack. Sogar im teuren Shop unseres Hotels gab's diese billiger!

La balade dans les petites ruelles étroites ponctuées de boutiques est d'autant plus agréable. La visite se termine par la visite d'un domaine viticole, où vous pourrez déguster quatre de leurs vins tout en savourant des en-cas typiques de la région.
